Hair Care

Organic conditioner is quite a bit easier to make than organic shampoo because there is no need to make castile soap, which is required for the shampoo.  Like the shampoo though, conditioner is fun to make and experiment with as you find the right combination of fragrances and active ingredients that are perfect for your hair.

There are many ingredients used in the creation of herbal conditioners to include; yogurt, aloe,  avocado & other fruits, lemon or lime juice, lavender oil & other essential oils, honey, chamomile, and eggs.  The specific ratios and quantities are unimportant.  You really need to experiment with this to discover the right combination for your hair and scalp.  These ingredients can spoil quickly, so only make enough for a few days, and store your conditioner in a cool, dark place.

What are the benefits of homemade organic conditioner?  For one, you know exactly where the ingredients come from, and how they are mixed together.  This can be very important for those who lead a very strict organic lifestyle.  Mechanically produced and commercially available organic products may possibly incorporate processes or ingredients that you don’t agree with.  Purchasing the ingredients for organic products right from the source and mixing them at home can bring you added peace of mind.  Also, the quality of the conditioner depends upon the quality of each ingredient, so if you purchase the ingredients yourself, you know you are getting the quality you want.  These conditioners also have the benefit of being much cheaper than store bought organic conditioners.
