There is a huge difference between cheap interiors doors and inexpensive interior doors. There is nothing wrong with buying interior doors that are a good value, because they are inexpensive. There are several times when you, as a property manager or owner may decide to use a less expensive door in your property.
- When you have a high turnover rate, but want your property to look brand new every time you have a new tenant. Less expensive doors can be replaced frequently and still keep you under budget.
- When you just want to have a door in the doorway to give your prospective buyer an idea of how the doorway can look.
- When you know the door will be replaced with a better, more permanent door in the near future.
Usually an inexpensive door will be hollow and lightweight, making it easy to handle and ease the installation process. One installer can usually handle an inexpensive interior door by himself. Good quality hollow interior doors will still have enough wood or composite framing to keep them true and resist warping. This is important to keep them closing properly over time.
A truly cheap door is not worth the money, no matter how inexpensive it is. You don’t want to spend any money on a door that is built out of pressboard and cardboard. These doors will warp in a very short time, making them difficult to close, or they will allow light to pass through gaps around the frame. Cheap doors will look cheap and reflect poorly on your building and you as the manager or owner. It will be hard to attract quality tenants or buyers to your building. So, no matter how cheap they are, they end up being expensive in other ways.
No matter which type of doors interior or exterior, cheap or pricey, make sure that you buy doors that give you the value you for which you are looking.
