Garage and Carport

If you have the proper skills and the right set of tools, you’ll be able to assemble a metal carport in less than a day, have a few skilled friends with you and you’ll be able to have it up in a matter of hours. A kit will always come with a unique set of assembly instructions from the original manufacturer, the exact instructions will vary depending on what type of carport you have, but there are some basic instructions that are applied to all types of carports. With these instructions you’ll be able to save yourself unnecessary trial and error when building.

Before you begin to assemble a metal carport you’ll need to make sure that all you have all the pieces, usually the kit will have a manifest list so check to make sure that everything is there. If something does happen to be missing, follow the manufacturer’s procedures as to how to obtain the missing part, it should be free of charge. After you have identified all the metal carport parts, you should then sort them into the order you are home improvement blueprintgoing to be using them in. This will help to save a lot of time during the assembly process.

The first thing you should start to assemble is the frame, start with the center pieces and then connect the side pieces. After the frame has been assembled start on the legs or posts of the carport. Again you should start in the center and then work your way out, be sure to fully complete each post before moving on to the next one. Next you’ll need to anchor your carport, this is not always necessary, but it is a good practice to help protect it from strong winds. Ground anchors and ropes can be attached to each post of the carport for increased strength. Anchors tend to be a building requirement in many areas so it is definitely worth doing right the first time around.
